Comparing the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy and schema therapy on self-efficacy and its components in addicts undergoing methadone maintenance treatment: A clinical trial study

Introduction: Addiction treatment is one of the challenges facing mental health studies, leading to failure if psychological components are not considered. Aim: The present study aimed compare effectiveness emotion-focused therapy and schema on self-efficacy addicts undergoing methadone maintenance treatment. Method: research was a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. population included all in de-addiction clinics district 5 Tehran during 2021-2022, which 3 54 patients were purposefully selected, based inclusion exclusion criteria placed randomly two experimental groups group. instrument Sherer's General Self-efficacy Scale (1982). data analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA Bonferroni post hoc test through SPSS-26. Results: results showed that significantly affected (P<0.001, F(1.167, 32.687)=43.881). Emotion-focused also improved F(2, 56)=29.048). Moreover, from comparing methods indicated post-test stage, more effective improving component "coping obstacles" than therapy. Conclusion: Considering both treatments its components, it suggested therapists addicts, especially treated methadone, use these treat clients. Additionally, as had relative superiority, can be used improve coping obstacles.
